How To Pick A Babies Soap

If you pick the wrong soap it can be harmful to your baby’s skin. In this article I intend on giving you some pointers on how to choose the right soap for your baby.

Many people don’t understand that there are many different types of soap. And when it comes to baby soaps that’s another story. You worry about so many different things at bath time. You wonder if the water is the right temperature. You hope you are holding the baby right. Everything is slippery and you don’t want to let your baby slip. So with all this to worry about you shouldn’t worry about keeping your baby’s skin soft and safe.

Of course you want to do the best for your baby and of course you want your baby to be healthy. By keeping the child’s skin healthy that will go a long way towards maintaining the health of your baby. So in saying that I have a few points to find the right soap.

You need soap that is gentle
The soap should be hypoallergenic
The soap needs to be non-toxic
The soap should definitely be SLS free

It’s so important to make sure the baby soap is very gentle so that it is not irritating to your baby’s skin during bath time. Bath time is supposed to be pleasant so let’s keep it that way. At this young age you don’t know what your baby is allergic to yet so it’s very important to use hypoallergenic soap. Babies are always putting their hands and toes in their mouths so that’s why it’s very important to use soap that’s non toxic. It will give you peace of mind to know that if your baby does swallow some soap no harm will be done. Sodium Laurel Sulphate is a very harsh chemical used to help your soap foam. In some soaps the SLS has damaged immune systems and it has inflamed skin. Now I am absolutely positive this is something you don’t want to expose your baby to.

It’s not odd for your baby to develop the occasional bump or rash in the first few weeks and months. Most of these will come and go naturally but by all means if you have some concerns then you should see your doctor.

I would recommend using natural baby soap. These soaps are only made from natural ingredients. These ingredients insure that your babies skin will remain soft and safe. For many things natural soaps can even help to soothe rashes or small skin irritations.

The Car Seat That’s Right For Your Baby

I’m no idiot. I am a father and from day one I have always wanted what would be best and safest for my child. In this article I intend on giving all you new parents or soon to be parents some advice on choosing your car seat.

Everywhere you look you see car seats but you don’t know which one to purchase. Firstly you should check on the reputation of the manufacturer. Check out any consumer guides and make sure the seat has been crash tested. Make sure you also check for any recalls. Remember your choice will be made dependant on your research. So the last thing you should do before buying that seat is to check the manufacturer’s recommendations and make sure the seat will work in your vehicle.

1. Infant Only Car Seat. This seat usually comes with a detachable base. It will have higher weight and height limits. The harness slots can be changed to have the seat facing front or back. Also the slots can be adjusted to work with the size of your child. Handles that are folded down and hid while in the car can be unfolded and used for carrying your child.
2. Convertible Car Seats These are bigger and heavier and may not work for all newborns. This kind of seat is very easy to adjust and works well in a reclining position. To start you can use this seat backwards for most newborns and then when ready you can turn it around. All the straps on this seat are adjustable so that the straps can be set to the right height and width.
3. Forward Facing Seats Since these seats cannot be used facing the rear position it is absolutely no good for new borns. These are more for children over a year old and over twenty pounds. These can be used with either a lap or a lap and shoulder harness system.
4. Combination Seats These seats as well cannot be used in the rear position therefore can’t be used for babies. These seats are designed for 1 year olds over 20 pounds and eventually can be used for older children weighing 40 to 50 pounds. These can also be used with only a lap belt or a lap and shoulder belt.
5. Booster Seats these come in many different sizes but are for older children. Many of them come with shield boosters or padded bars that lock into place a lot like the bars on many carnival rides. You can get them with higher back supports for more comfort. Many times you can now buy some vehicles with booster seats built right into them. These are mostly found in vans. Checking for size restraints is very important when using these.

Okay so now you have picked a seat for your child. What you should do now is just do a double check to make sure it’s what you want. The seat has to be easy to work with. You have to put your children in and take them out so it could be a bit strenuous on you if you don’t pick the proper seat.

How To When It Comes To Potty Training

Potty training can be one of the most challenging times in a child’s and parent’s life. In this article I intend to give you some points to hopefully make the experience that more enjoyable.

The first part of potty training is when your child starts to show readiness to use the potty. Some of the signs are listed below
They show interest in the potty
They tell you that they have to go to the bathroom
They can dress and undress themselves
The child hates to be in a wet diaper
The child stays dry for many hours
He or she imitates other family members
They express an interest in wearing big peoples underwear
The child has regular bowel movements

When your child shows a readiness you shouldn’t waste this time. It is time to introduce him or her to the concept of using the potty. Introducing them can be done by video training. You can also buy potty training books to be read at bed time. Make sure you buy a chair for the potty. It’s also not bad for your child to see you use the potty because they will often imitate you.

There’s a good chance that the child will imitate his or her parents by sitting in their potty chair while you go to the bathroom. This is a good time to start teaching good hygiene by washing your hands after every potty use.

You need to promote muscle memory. You can accomplish this by giving the child lots of liquids and then taking them to the potty every thirty minutes. It’s also necessary to make a big deal when the child first uses the potty. You can do this with a big hug, clapping and even a small reward.

There’s one last stage to the potty training and that’s probably the hardest one. Many children have problems when it comes to using the potty outside the home in public areas. The amounts of people and with nothing being familiar makes things a little and lots of times a lot intimidating. All you can do is be patient with your child and promise them rewards for good days away from home.

In some cases the kids will be very easy to potty train but in others it will seem like an endless situation. Every child develops differently. You have to be patient and remember how new this is to your child. There are also several potty training products out there.

Colic, Why And What

Hours and hours, days and days, the crying just won’t stop. Everyone in the house is getting irritated. Sleep is at a minimum. Your child has colic. I intend to briefly show you what colic is and what you can do about it.

When a baby has colic things around the house can be very trying. Family members become stressed out. The most times you see this is with new parents. A few ways to recognize that your baby has colic is long, loud crying sessions for very long periods of time. The baby will make fists and pull their legs under them often telling the parent that they have bowel pains. New parents get to their wits end because they are doing everything for their child and nothing seems to be working.

Even the medical society has no definite answers as to why colic happens. There are several theories. The most popular one being that the child took too much air into their stomach while drinking milk or juice. This creates gastrointestinal pain. Another theory is that a child has a very sensitive stress system. With all the new stimulants around them daily it stresses them out and as the end of the day comes along the only way to deal with these stresses is by crying.

About 1/3 of newborns experience colic. So many parents believe they aren’t doing everything possible for the children but it is definitely not a result of poor parenting. Most babies won’t experience colic after the three month period of life but you want to know what you should do until then. There is no miracle cure for colic but below are some things you can try to help ease your babies colic.

1. It often helps to just hold your baby in your arms and rock them.
2. A baby swing will often help as long as you keep it moving back and forth.
3. The one that often worked for me is taking my child for a car ride.
4. Often a nice long stroller ride will work.
5. If you can turn on a vacuum or fan the noise might distract the baby.
6. This one doesn’t usually work but on a few occasions it has. What I’m talking about is using a pacifier.
7. Lots of success has been found when giving the baby a warm bath.
8. You can try to burp your baby.
9. If the mother is breast feeding she could try and change her diet so that she’s not eating gassy foods that she may be ingesting to the child through her milk.
For the most part new born colic is nothing to worry about. Ask other people who have children how they dealt with it. Something you should watch for is your own stress. Endless hours of crying and screaming can make even the best parent in the world miserable. Make sure you have some help when your baby is colicky. You will notice that the screaming will be easier to handle if you can just walk away from it for a few minutes.

How To Pick A Baby Name

The Dr. told you you’re going to have a baby. There are a million things going through your head and the smallest is choosing your babies name. In this article I would like to help you a bit by giving you some pointers on some baby names.

1. The first and probably most important point that I have is that you should take your time. The name you choose has to be with your child for the rest of their lives so rushing will only affect them in the long run. You want to keep looking for a name until you are 150 percent happy. Remember you have 9 months and I know many parents who waited a month after the birth to finally decide on a name. You have to remember this has to be the perfect name.
2. The next point I also think is very important. Lots of parents don’t care but I think knowing what your child’s name means is absolutely necessary. Then there are the parents who base their child’s name solely on the meaning. Why I think its important is because you don’t want your child having a meaning that doesn’t suit him or her. What if your son grows up to be 6 foot 3, 280 pound high school football player and his name means little pretty red rose?
3. You have a long time to try names out. If you have a few names that you might think will work use them for a week at a time during the pregnancy. Instead of referring to your unborn child as he or she use a name. Use the name in sentences and everything else that refers to your yet unborn child. See how it rolls off your tongue. Another thing to do is write it down. Sometimes a name on paper flows greatly but sounds terrible when spoken.

At the end of the day you and your spouse have to make the decision. You will have many people trying to sway your decisions like you should name your child after a great uncle that died in the war. This is absolutely not necessary. I promise you no one will think any different of you once you do decide on a name. If the dead uncle or whatever really becomes an issue than you could consider it as a middle name but only if you really believe it’s important enough.
